Karnataka Election: Commute via bus, cabs to be affected today in light of polling

Public transport including the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are also expected to be affected as both the corporations have already set aside 27 per cent and 45 per cent of their fleet, respectively, for election duty, The Times of India reported.
On the other hand, authorities in the South Western Railways (SWR) provided some relief by adding three additional trains to cater to the extra rush on election day as people seek to travel to their natives to cast their votes.

The South Western Railways (SWR) approved the three trains, which are: Bengaluru (SMVB) to Belagavi via Hubballi, Bengaluru (SMVB) to Bidar via Kalaburagi, and Bengaluru (Yeshwantpur) to Murudeshwara.
Apart from this, officials have added extra coaches in five other trains to accommodate additional passengers.

"Two coaches have been added in 12079/80 (Bengaluru-Hubballi Janashatabdi Exp), and one each in 17307/ 17308 (Bagalkot-Mysuru, Basava Exp), 16593/94 (Bengaluru-Nanded via Raichuru, Yadgir), 17309/ 10 (Yashwantpur- Hubballi - Vasco), 16595/96 (Bengaluru- Karwar)," the SWR said in a press release.
