Karnataka polls 2023: The polling is scheduled across 58,545 polling stations across 37,777 locations, the Election Commission of India had said.

Around 5.3 crore eligible voters of the southern state of Karnataka are voting today to elect the new lawmakers for the 224-member assembly. The stakes are high for the BJP and higher for the Congress with 2,615 candidates contesting the electoral battle.

The polling is scheduled across 58,545 polling stations across 37,777 locations, the Election Commission of India had said. As the state celebrates the festival of democracy, the newly weds made their way to the polling booths to exercise their franchise. Let's have a look.

According to the Election Commission of India, there are 11.17 lakhs first time voters in Karnataka. A total of 41,000 applicants turned 18 by April 1 and they will be eligible to vote in the assembly elections.

In Karnataka, polling for the Assembly elections is being held in a single phase on May 10. The counting of votes would take place on May 13. The EC has already declared a holiday on Wednesday. The polling will continue till 6 pm and the people are already standing in lines to exercise their franchise.
