The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lost the confidence of the people within three months of forming the government in Punjab, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Arun Singh on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Singh said, “AAP lost the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat from where chief minister Bhagwant Mann himself was a two-time MP. This is people’s disillusionment with the AAP. The party’s bundle of lies and bubble of false promises has burst in Punjab. The future of Punjab belongs to the BJP.”

Responding to a question, Singh said the BJP was focusing on strengthening its organisation in Punjab and the time to come was of the BJP. He claimed that BJP’s victory was sure in the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

A Rajya Sabha MP, Singh was in the city under the BJP national general secretary pravaas programme.

“Similarly, the results of the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats are also encouraging for the BJP, and a sign that the works and schemes of Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath are being liked by every section of the country,” said Singh.

He also patted BJP Chandigarh unit’s work amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and said each and every party programme was carried out in a good manner.

He backed the central government’s Agnipath scheme as “very good for the youth”, and thanked the Prime Minister and the party leadership for announcing Draupadi Murmu as NDA’s presidential candidate, giving special representation to tribals.
