A BJP delegation comprising chief spokesperson and MLA Rakesh Jamwal, MLAs Satpal Singh Satti, DS Thakur and Dileep Thakur submitted a written complaint addressed to the Superintendent of Police, Shimla, through the Additional SP, seeking legal action against Pawan Khera.

Jamwal said political disagreements and criticism are an integral part of democracy, but the use of such language against the Union Home Minister crosses the limits of political decency and lowers the standard of public discourse.

He said the BJP has submitted a written complaint requesting the police to examine the matter under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and any other applicable legal provisions. “The party will also provide the police with relevant videos, social media material and other electronic evidence pertaining to the alleged remarks” added Jamwal.

He said the complaint specifically seeks preservation and examination of the original and unedited video/audio recordings and social media posts relating to Pawan Khera’s statement.
