BSF recovers five pistols, ammo dropped by Pakistani drone in Punjab’s Gurdaspur

The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered five Austria-made Glock pistols and 91 rounds of different calibre bullets dropped by a Pakistani drone near Metla village in Dera Baba Nanak sub division of Gurdaspur district on Friday.

“The infiltrating rogue drone was fired upon by our personnel at 2.28am. Later, during a search of the area, a packet containing the arms and ammunition was recovered from a field,” a BSF spokesperson said.

Officials said the cache contained five Glock pistols and their 10 magazines besides 91 rounds of ammunition, comprising 71 rounds of .9 mm and 20 rounds of .311 bore.

Security agencies suspect the consignment was meant for separatist groups in the border state.

The Glock is a sophisticated semi-automatic pistol used by counter-terrorist forces, such as the National Security Guard (NSG) and other commando teams. It is used in a close-quarter battle scenario and VIP protection duties as it has a range of 35-50 metres. It is manufactured in Austria and the US.
