BSF sub-inspector found dead at Jammu’s Kanachak border post

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a border post along the Indo-Pak international border in Kanachak area of Akhnoor sector on Monday, said officials.

The deceased, sub-inspector Ramdev Singh of Sikar in Rajasthan, belonged to the 12th battalion and was commanding a BSF platoon.
Inspector Kunal Singh, Kanachak station head officer, said, “We have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC. Prima-facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. The officer was found dead inside his room after a BSF man went inside to serve bed tea to him at 6.35 am on Monday.”
“The officer was found lying in a pool of blood and his personal assault weapon, a 9 mm beretta. The shot was fired beneath the chin and it had made its exit from the head,” he added.
The body was shifted to GMC hospital for post-mortem, he informed. The BSF has also instituted a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the death.
