4th liquor vend auction also proves damp squib, only 7of 36 vends sold in Chandigarh

Despite slashing the reserve price by 6% to 10%, the Chandigarh excise and taxation department could sell only seven of the 36 remaining vends in the fourth auction held on Friday.

The liquor vend at Kajheri village was sold for 4,68,58,421 against the reserve price of 4,68,58,420 — a difference of just 1.

Apart from Kajheri, the other liquor vends auctioned are located in Sectors 8 (internal market), 15, 27-C and 38-D, Industrial Area, Phase 1, and Mauli Jagran Colony.

The vend in Sector 8 ( internal market) fetched the highest bid of 7,73,01,999 against the reserve price of 7,72,91,612, a difference of around 10,000.

The department earned 36.38 crore against the reserve price of 35.89 crore.

Now, out of the total of 95 liquor vends in the city, 66 have been auctioned and 29 remain available. Through the four auctions, the department has earned 334 crore against the reserve price of 311 crore.

Another auction has been planned by slashing the reserve price further by 3% to 5%. The date will be announced soon, said an official. Last year, the department had to hold seven auctions and still could not sell three of the total 96 vends.
