The city police launched a crackdown against those involved in selling illegal lottery tickets, betting, and gambling and arrested as many as 28 persons in 22 separate cases registered on one day, police said on Monday.

Five accused are yet to be arrested.
The police have recovered a total of ₹50,215, mobile phones, slips, playing cards and some other material from the possession of the accused on Sunday.
There are 22 cases registered at 15 police stations of the Ludhiana city police, including two each at Salem Tabri, Division number 3, Sahnewal, Division number 6, Model Town, Moti Nagar and Tibba Police stations, while one each at Daresi, Jodhewal, Division number 1, Division number 4, Sadar, Division number 5, Jamalpur and Division number 7 police stations.
According to police officials, the drive will continue to keep a tab on illegal activities.
