In a memorandum to the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, Seechewal said these 700 students have given lakhs of rupees as fees to the Canadian government and it is not their fault that travel agents have cheated them. “Instead of deporting students, the action should be taken against travel agents. The parents of aggrieved students have paid the fees of their children by taking loans, so it is unfair the way they are being treated,” Seechewal said. He urged the MEA to take up the matter with Canadian counterpart so that the future of these students can be secured.

The Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) has least week issued deportation notice to at least 700 gullible Indian students for allegedly furnishing fake offer letters.
