Haryana: Man gets 10-year-jailterm for raping minor

A fast track special court dealing with rape and POCSO cases in Fatehabad , on Wednesday, sentenced a man to 10-years-imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old girl in 2023.

The additional district and sessions judge (fast-track special court) has convicted a Sirsa resident to 10-year jail term, besides imposing a fine of ₹1 lakh.

Fatehabad district attorney Devender Mittal said that the girl’s father had lodged a complaint with Sadar Fatehabad police station on May 10, 2023, after the girl went missing.

“Eight days later, the girl recovered. The minor recorded her statement before the court under Section 164. She stated that the accused took her to Amritsar where he raped her. The accused was also arrested on May 18. The court has convicted the accused under sections 363, 366 and Section 4(1) of the POCSO act,” he added.
