The Haryana state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (SV&ACB) on Tuesday arrested a naib tehsildar for allegedly accepting a ₹2 lakh bribe in Jhajjar district.
Acting on the complaint, the bureau laid a trap under supervision of inspector Devendra Singh, and the accused was arrested red-handed while taking the ₹2 lakh bribe money. (HT Photo for representation)
The arrested officer has been identified as Balwan Singh, posted as naib tehsildar in Jhajjar. According to the ACB officials, they had received a complaint from a person requesting anonymity that the naib tehsildar was demanding ₹2.50 lakh bribe for correction in a revenue record of his land and he had already taken ₹50,000 earlier and was pressuring the complainant to pay the remaining ₹2 lakh.
Acting on the complaint, the bureau laid a trap under supervision of inspector Devendra Singh, and the accused was arrested red-handed while taking the ₹2 lakh bribe money. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the officials said.
