Ludhiana: FIR registered after activist receives bomb threat on WhatsApp

Ludhiana Gursimran Singh Mand, national president of the International Anti-Khalistani Terrorist Front, has alleged that he received bomb threats through WhatsApp from a foreign number.

Based on his complaint, Punjab Police has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.

According to police, Mand, a resident of Sarabha Nagar Extension on Pakhowal Road, stated that he received threatening messages on WhatsApp from an international number. In his complaint, he alleged that the sender, identified as Goldy Dhillon, threatened to blow up his house and also used abusive language.

Mand told police that the threats caused concern among his family members.

Police have registered a case under Sections 296, 351(2), 351(3) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

ASI Harcharan Singh, the investigating officer, said police are examining the foreign number used to send the messages. WhatsApp records and other digital evidence are also being scrutinised as part of the investigation.

Goldy Dhillon’s name had earlier surfaced in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old chemist shop cashier in Chandigarh’s Sector 11 on June 13.
