Police bust two gangs involved in recent robberies in Punjab’s Sangrur

Sangrur police busted two gangs, including that with a sarpanch as its member, for robbing local residents. Police said that the accused were involved in the recent incidents of robbery in the city.

Sangrur senior superintendent of police Surinder Lamba said that the first gang robbed an employee of a finance firm. They attacked him with an iron rod and robbed him of ₹2.83 lakh.

The members of the gang are Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, sarpanch of village Ratola, Gurvinder Singh, resident of village Kapial, Jagsir Singh, resident of village Uppli, Karan Singh, resident of village Mangwal, Lakhwinder Singh and Yugesh of Sangrur and Simarjeet Singh of village Bheni Mehraj. Karan, Lakhwinder and Yogesh are still absconding while others have been arrested. He informed that the sarpanch Gagandeep Singh was already facing two cases of robbery. The other gang had snatched canter truck and ₹5,300 from a Sangrur resident. They were identified as Kuljeet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Himmat Singh and Harkamal Singh of village Kajla.
