The recruitment process had come to a halt after the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) was disbanded following the infamous paper leak case. He said no fee will be charged from the candidates and there will be no age limit.

Sukhu said his government has brought a budget which would pave way for systemic change in the state. He claimed that previously, no government had made efforts for resource mobilisation. “This government has taken several steps like imposing water cess on hydropower generation, milk cess, auction of liquor contracts and toll barriers for additional sources of income,” he added.

The CM said that the government was committed to delivering on all election guarantees, one of which (restoration of the Old Pension Scheme) would be fulfilled on April 1.

He said the state government has abolished the construction wing in the forest department as a measure to reduce wasteful expenditure. The employees posted there were sent to PWD and other departments.

Sukhu also credited his government for effectively taking the issue of FCA and FRA clearance with the Supreme Court after which the apex court removed the condition of prior permission and authorised the clearances.

The chief minister said to fight the drug menace, the state government would soon bring a strict law in the ongoing budget session.

Sukhu said that earlier, tender process for various works was completed in 90 days, which has now been brought down to 20 days.

The CM said that during the tenure of 100 days, the state government has set a new direction for Himachal with the help of its employees and officers.

Launches campaign to prevent forest fire

On the occasion of International Day of Forests, Sukhu also launched an awareness campaign to prevent forest fires and restore the ecosystem in lantana-infested areas. The campaign aims at sensitising people about forest fire prevention and the bad effects of lantana weed -- a flowering shrub that infests pastures and farmland and leads to breathing issues.

HP govt inks pact to improve drinking water, sanitation services

The HP government on Tuesday also inked a pact with a French development agency to improve drinking water and sanitation services in five towns of the state. The memorandum of understanding for the project worth 817 crore was signed with Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) in the presence of Sukhu and his deputy Mukesh Agnihotri.

The objective of the project is to develop better sewerage facilities in Manali, Bilaspur, Palampur, Nahan and Karsog and improve drinking water supply in Manali and Palampur.
