SIR 2026: Punjab rolls out draft electoral list, file objections by Sept 12
The publication marks the beginning of the second phase of the exercise, during which claims and objections can be filed from August 13 to September 12, 2026, followed by the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections till October 8, 2026
The Draft Electoral Roll, 2026, for all 117 assembly constituencies in Punjab was published on Thursday under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, in accordance with the programme announced by the Election Commission of India, chief electoral officer Anindita Mitra said.
The publication marks the beginning of the second phase of the exercise, during which claims and objections can be filed from August 13 to September 12, 2026, followed by the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections till October 8, 2026. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 12.
As part of the process, Mitra chaired a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties, during which the Draft Electoral Roll was formally handed over. Party representatives were briefed on the prescribed forms — Form 6 for inclusion of names, Form 6A for enrolment of NRI voters, Form 7 for deletion of names, and Form 8 for correction of entries or shifting of address.
Mitra said young citizens with a qualifying date of October 1, 2026, were eligible for enrolment, and apprised the representatives of available platforms, including the Citizen Service Portal and the “Book a Call Request with BLO” facility.
To help electors verify their details, a one-day Special Camp will be held at all polling booths on August 16, where booth-level officers (BLOs) will be present from 10 am to 1 pm to assist with checking entries in the Draft Roll and other electoral services. Help desks will also be set up at district election officer (DEO) and electoral registration officer (ERO) offices across the state, displaying the published Draft Electoral Roll for public reference.
Voters can check their names in the Draft Electoral Roll on the website “www.ceopunjab.gov.in” or the citizen portal (voters.eci.gov.in). Those whose names do not appear in the list may submit claims for inclusion, along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents, by September 12.
Citizens requiring further assistance can call the Voter Helpline number 1950 or use the “Book a Call Request with BLO” facility on the ECINET mobile application.
