Two bootleggers in separate cases with180 liquor bottles in one case and 54 quarters of country made liquor in another were arrested by Panchkula police.
A team of Panchkula police on Sunday night arrested two bootleggers in separate cases with180 liquor bottles in one case and 54 quarters of country made liquor in another.
A case on charges of selling illicit liquor was registered under Section 61 (1) (a) of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 (Haryana Amendment Bill, 2020) at Chandimandir police station. (HT File)
The arrested accused, Gurdeep Singh, 26, resident of Johluwal village in Pinjore, was nabbed after police received a tip off regarding an Esteem car bearing Haryana number plate carrying illicit liquor. Following the lead, officials placed barricades a few meters ahead of Surajpur toll plaza, the road leading to Pinjore.
As the accused passed through the barricade, he was stopped by the police and on checking, 10 boxes of country made liquor and 5 boxes of liquor was recovered. Each box contained 12 bottles, making it 120 bottles of country made liquor and 60 liquor bottles.
When asked, Gurdeep could not produce permit of these bottles and hence was arrested by the police. A case was registered under Section 61 (1) (a) of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 (Haryana Amendment Bill, 2020) at Chandimandir police station.
Another case was registered at Pinjore police station against Ramandeep from Bir Ghaggar for selling illicit liquor at Morni Road.
