Artificial limbs distributed at Ludhiana’s Vardhman event

Vardhman Textiles celebrated its chairperson's birthday by hosting a blood donation camp and distributing artificial limbs to the specially abled at its factory premises. Over 751 employees donated blood, and similar camps were organized across all group locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

The blood donation camp was organised in collaboration with Rehras Sewa Society and was aimed to encourage company’s employees to donate blood and save lives. Similar blood donation camps were organized across all group locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Over 751 employees also donated blood on a single day. The employees donated blood with great enthusiasm and energy. In addition to the blood donation camp, the company also organised another event to provide artificial limbs to specially abled individuals who were unable to afford.

Chairperson S P Oswal expressed his gratitude to all volunteers, donors, and organizations for their support. The even was also attended by Suchita Oswal Jain, vice-chairperson, Sachit Jain, chairperson Steel Business; Neeraj Jain, joint managing director, Sagrika Jain, executive director and other senior dignitaries.

DMCH holds blood donation camp

Ludhiana A blood donation camp was organised at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital to mark World Thalassemia Day on Wednesday. Various non-governmental organisations working for thalassemia patients were also honoured during the event. The camp was organised by department of paediatrics and department of immunohematology and transfusion medicine at, in collaboration with Punjab Thalassemic Welfare Society. A fashion show for patients fighting thalassemia warriors was organised on the occasion. Talking during the camp, DMCH managing society secretary Bipin Gupta advised the youngsters to get a thalassemia screening test so that this condition may be avoided in future generations. DMCH principal Dr Sandeep Puri urged people to donate blood.

Two test positive for Covid

Ludhiana With two fresh Covid cases being reported on Wednesday, the district active cases reached 53. Meanwhile, hospitalisations of Covid-infected patients witnessed no change with two patients in isolation wards of various hospitals. As per data shared by the civil surgeon, a total of 1,14,493 persons have tested Covid positive since the pandemic’s outbreak and 3,027 persons have lost their lives to the deadly virus since March 2020 in the district. On Wednesday, as many as 616 samples were sent for Covid testing.
