The Congress unveiled a revamped leadership team for Rajasthan on Saturday, in what unmistakably bore State Congress president Sachin Pilot’s imprint.
The list of office bearers gives representation to all sections and factions, particularly giving a boost to young blood.
But it has also grown in size — the state executive now has 86 members as opposed to 60 earlier. More than half of the last team has been replaced by new faces such as Vaibhav Gehlot, son of ex-CM Ashok Gehlot. There are around 50 young faces from the NSUI and Youth Congress.
The new state executive has 15 vice presidents, 26 general secretaries, 43 secretaries and 2 spokespersons.
The list of office bearers and executive committee members was announced by the All India Congress Committee on Saturday evening in New Delhi after approval by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The new team has 14 Brahmins, 7 Rajputs, 11 SCs, 8 Muslims, 9 STs, 13 Jats, 7 OBCs, 6 Baniyas, 4 Gurjars, and 2 Malis.
The Congress which was decimated in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections faces a challenge of presenting itself as a viable alternative to the people.
Former secretary Archana Sharma has been promoted as vice president and chairperson of the media centre.
Existing office bearers who have been repeated are Gopal Singh Idwa, Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, Bhanwarlal Meghwal, Ashok Bairwa, Raghu Sharma, Pramod Jain, Udai Lal Anjana, Rajiv Arora Sushil Sharma, Pukhraj Parashar among others.
