Panchkula: Three green corridors created to transport organs from brain-dead donor

According to police officials, the operation began at around 2.30pm when a team from Apollo Hospital was escorted from the airport to Command Hospital

In a coordinated and time-sensitive operation, the district police on Saturday established three separate green corridors to transport organs donated by a brain-dead patient to their destinations.

Following the organ retrieval procedure at Command Hospital, Chandimandir, the organs were swiftly transported to Chandigarh, Mohali, and the Technical Airport in Chandigarh within a minimal time frame. The organs were dispatched for transplantation to PGIMER Chandigarh, Apollo Hospital Delhi (via Mohali airport), and an army airbase.

According to police officials, the operation began at around 2.30pm when a team from Apollo Hospital was escorted from the airport to Command Hospital. The most critical phase of the mission took place between 5pm and 8pm.

During this period, the traffic police ensured uninterrupted passage through designated routes: from Command Hospital to Mohali airport via the Zirakpur border (PCR-9), to the Technical Airport Chandigarh (PCR-8), and to PGIMER Chandigarh via Housing Board Chowk (PCR-3).

Hundreds of vehicles were halted to provide a continuous green signal for the ambulances, ensuring the organs were transported within the crucial ischemic time, thereby preserving their viability for transplantation.
