The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday began construction of the Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor, the underground extension of the Magenta Line, with work commencing at the proposed Sarai Rohilla Metro station.
The 12.377-km corridor will be a fully underground extension of the Magenta Line (Line 8) and will comprise 10 stations.
“The proposed Sarai Rohilla Station is one of the key stations being developed on the Inderlok-Indraprastha Corridor of the Magenta Line. The station is strategically located in the heart of Central Delhi, close to several educational institutions, a cinema hall, Karol Bagh market and Desh Bandhu Gupta Road,” the DMRC said in a statement.
The 12.377-km corridor will be a fully underground extension of the Magenta Line (Line 8) and will comprise 10 stations. Once completed, it will make the Magenta Line the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network at around 89km, with the highest number of interchange and underground stations. The entire corridor will be operated using driverless trains.
The new corridor will provide interchanges with the Green and Red lines at Inderlok, the Yellow and Airport Express (Orange) lines at New Delhi, the existing Magenta Line at Nabi Karim, the Violet Line at Delhi Gate and the Blue Line at Indraprastha.
