Massive fire breaks out at plastic factory in N Delhi, no casualties reported

A massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in the Badli area of outer north Delhi around 2am on Sunday, said officials, adding that no casualties have been reported so far.
According to officials of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), 23 fire tenders were deployed to douse the blaze at the four-storey factory cum godown — stacked with plastic granules. All the goods were gutted, they said.
“Fire tenders were pressed to work immediately after we were informed about the fire at the plastic dana factory behind Rohini jail, near the Haiderpur Metro station in north Delhi. The fire has been doused, but a cooling operation is still underway as burnt plastic leads to excessive heat that usually lasts for 12 to 24 hours... We are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire,” said DFS director Atul Garg, adding that robotic firefighters were also pressed to work to douse the blaze.
“The robotic firefighters, which have water pipes attached to them, are controlled by wireless remotes. They spray water on the fire, and also remove fire smoke using their ventilation system,” Garg said.
Fire service officials are yet to share details about the goods damaged in the fire.
