Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women, on Friday expressed strong concern about a viral video on social media that showed a young man purportedly masturbating on a Delhi Metro while others around him looked embarrassed and moved away.

The disturbing video has gone viral on social media showing a young man, watching a mobile phone, appearing to be masturbating on the Delhi Metro.

Taking to Twitter, Maliwal said she has issued a notice to the Delhi Police and Delhi Metro to take strict action for the "shameful act".

“Came across a viral video where a man can be seen shamelessly masturbating in Delhi Metro. It is absolutely disgusting and sickening. I am issuing a notice to Delhi Police and Delhi Metro to ensure strictest possible action against this shameful act,” Maliwal tweeted.

In the disturbing video, which has gone viral on social media, shows a young man (watching something on a mobile phone) purportedly masturbating on the Delhi Metro while other commuters around him are visibly uncomfortable and moving away.

The incident was captured on video by another commuter, who did not intervene to stop the perpetrator.

This is not the first such incident to occur on the Delhi Metro, with a recent viral video showing a woman in a bra and miniskirt travelling on the train. The DMRC has urged commuters to follow social etiquette and protocols, but the woman in the video argued that the policy against videography on the train should apply to those who shot the video as well.

The Delhi Commission for Women had notified the Delhi Police and Delhi Metro to take strict action against the perpetrator.
