Gurugram: Biker snatches Iraqi woman’s bag with valuables
A case has been lodged and police are scanning CCTV footage to identify the suspect, said senior officers
An unidentified miscreant on a motorcycle allegedly snatched a bag from an Iraqi woman in Sector 39 while she and her mother were returning from the market to their guest house on Saturday night, senior police officers said, adding that according to the woman, the bag contained $1,500 and ₹4,000 cash.

According to the police, the woman, Belsom (single name only in FIR), arrived in Gurugram for treating her liver ailment. On Saturday, she and her mother were walking towards a guest house in Sector 39, discussing the treatment plan, when a man on a motorbike snatched her bag and fled, police said.
The complainant, Belsom (single name only in FIR), said the man was wearing a helmet and she could not check the number plate of the motorbike in the shock of the incident.
In her complaint, Belsom said, “On September 21, around 7.30pm, I had gone walking with my mother Miad Kamil to buy bread from the market. While returning with the grocery bag and my purse, an unidentified motorist wearing a helmet came in front of plot number 433 in Sector 39 and snatched my bag and fled. My bag had $1,500 and ₹4,000 cash along with some important documents and valuables.”
Varun Dahiya, assistant commissioner of police (crime), said the victim could not note down the registration number of the vehicle. A police team visited the spot and scanned the CCTV footage.
Following the complaint, a case was registered against an unidentified suspect under the relevant section of Indian Penal Code at Sadar police station on Monday, said police.
