Two more illegal hospitals busted in Sohna, quacks treating patients arrested

A joint team of the chief minister’s flying squad and Haryana health department on Tuesday busted two more illegal hospitals and arrested two quacks from Shiv Colony in Sohna, police said on Wednesday.
Police said the team first searched Lilavati hospital followed by MP Clinic, which was a five-bed small hospital.
Investigators said a quack, identified as Ajit Kumar (40), was arrested from Lilavati, while a second quack, Mukesh Kumar (39), were arrested from MP Clinic. They said both were treating patients when the search team reached the spot.
According to police, both men do not have any kind of medical degree to practise medicine. However, the duo kept exploiting the locals financially in the name of “treating them”.
A senior police officer said both of them used to prescribe common medicines to patients and in case anyone came with a serious ailment, they would administer intravenous drips and injections, without having any knowledge to do so.
“Several medical equipment and a large number of tablets, painkillers, antibiotics, syrups, injections and drips were seized from both hospitals, which didn’t have any government licence or permission to function. The quacks also failed to show us any documents to prove that they are certified medical practitioners,” he said.
On a complaint given by Dr Tarun Chopra, a medical officer posted at the civil surgeon’s office in Gurugram, two separate FIRs were registered against both the arrested quacks under sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and National Medical Commission Act at the City Sohna police station on Tuesday night, said police.
This is the third such illegal hospital to be busted in Sohna leading to the arrest of quacks in four days. On Saturday, the team had busted one such hospital in Kabir Nagar and arrested an alleged quack named Ahmed Khan.
Subhash Boken, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said further investigation was on to ascertain since when these hospitals have been functioning.
