Man killed, nephew injured as car hits bicycle in Lucknow’s Bakshi Ka Talab
A speeding car killed a 45-year-old man and injured his 21-year-old nephew in Lucknow. The driver fled; police are investigating using CCTV footage.
A 45-year-old man was killed while his 21-year-old nephew sustained serious injuries after an unidentified speeding car rammed into their bicycle in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow early on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Ramu Kumar, a resident of Kalyanpur. Ramu and his nephew Vijay, who worked as waiters, were returning home on their bicycle after finishing work at a lawn near Kisan Path when the accident occurred at around 3 am, police said. The impact was so severe that Ramu died on the spot, while Vijay suffered serious injuries.
Passers-by and locals alerted the police following which the injured youth was rushed to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.
According to police officials, the car driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the vehicle and trace the accused driver.
