Over 20 people carrying a tazia in a Moharram procession suffered burn injuries after the tazia came in contact with high tension electricity wire passing overhead in Kanevra village of Manda area in trans-Yamuna region of Prayagraj on Tuesday afternoon.
On getting information, district magistrate Sanjay Khatri and senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shailesh Kumar Pandey rushed to the spot and ensured proper care and treatment of all the injured.
According to reports, a group of taziadars were taking a tazia procession in Manda on the 10th day of Moharram. They tried to take tazia from under the high-tension electricity wires but it came in contact with it. Five youths received electric shock and around many others who went to rescue them also sustained minor burn injuries.
All of them were rescued and taken to nearby community health centre and given first aid. Five of them were later shifted to SRN hospital in Sangam city. Giving this information, SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said all suffered minor burns in the incident. They were given immediate medical treatment, he added.
