Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia meet Chandrashekhar Azad, demand arrest of attackers

Wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia visited Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad on Thursday at the Saharanpur district hospital in UP and demanded immediate arrest of those who attacked the Bhim Army chief.
Addressing media persons after the meeting, Punia pressed demands for the arrest of the accused.
“Today only those fighting for the truth are being attacked. Our only demand is that the attackers should be arrested at the earliest”, he said.
“Chandrashekhar is not the leader of any one society, but of the whole society and stands with every person who is fighting for the truth. Be it the farmer’s movement or the fight of the wrestlers”, he said.
He further said that Chandrasekhar had extended their full support to their protest.

“When we came to know that there was a fatal attack on him, we came here to meet”, he added.
Malik also condemned the attack on Chandrashekher.
Calling it shameful, she said, “The police should immediately identify and arrest the assailants.”
Earlier in the day, a case of attempt to murder and SC/ST act was registered by the Uttar Pradesh police.

Azad Samaj Party member Manish was driving the vehicle when unidentified assailants fired at Azad on Wednesday around 5pm in Deoband area of district Saharanpur.
He sustained a bullet wound on his waist and was admitted in a community health centre at Deoband for treatment. He was later shifted to district hospital of Saharanpur.
The incident took place at Gandhi Colony in Deoband when Azad was returning in an SUV after attending a programme, police said.
“The assailants were in a car and opened fire on Azad’s SUV from the right side. A bullet grazed his abdomen,” Saharanpur (City) superintendent of police Abimanyu Manglik said.
