BPO employee assault case: Cops claim she cannot recollect how she landed in hospital
Priyangi’s father, Munish Singh, however, claimed that his daughter’s life had been ruined by her boyfriend, Amey Darekar, and his mother and that the police had been pressuring her to admit that she had suffered injuries after a fall
The 23-year-old Malad BPO employee, Priyangi Singh, allegedly told the police on Tuesday that she could not recollect if she had slipped and fell from a water tank on a Dahisar high-rise or she was pushed by her boyfriend after a fight. She also did not remember how she ended up in hospital, a police officer said.

Priyangi’s father, Munish Singh, however, claimed that his daughter’s life had been ruined by her boyfriend, Amey Darekar, and his mother and that the police had been pressuring her to admit that she had suffered injuries after a fall.
Senior police inspector Pravin Patil of Dahisar police station said they recorded the statement of Priyangi at Sanjeevani Hospital where she underwent a surgery later in the day.
Priyangi, in her statement, said she had gone to meet Amey after her office on November 12. Around 7 pm, they purchased beer and drank it near Broadway Mall, Borivali (West), she said. Two hours later, around 9 pm, they called their friend Devesh Lad and on the way to his home at La Belleza apartments in Dahisar (East), they bought whiskey and beer, the statement said, adding the three then went to the terrace.
Priyangi and Lad also consumed weed which was obtained by the latter, she said. At 1 am, the three went to Borivali (East) to buy more alcohol and consumed it on the terrace again. At 2.30 am, Lad went home while the couple stayed on the terrace. The two then fell asleep there and woke up around 6 am, the officer said.
“Priyangi told us that she and Amey had a fight on the terrace but due to the effect of alcohol she did not remember what it was about. She also told us that the next thing she remembered was waking up in a hospital bed two days later,” Patil said.
The police officer further said Priyangi could not even recollect whether she was taken to Amey’s house and later dropped at her home by his mother, Radhika.
Priyangi’s father has a different story.
“Priyangi has clearly said that she and Amey were drunk and had a fight. The police have been pressuring her to admit that she had slipped,” he said.
Singh claimed that Priyangi was pushed and then beaten up by Amey. “There are a lot of questions which are not being investigated like how my daughter’s clothes were wet and how she had very little blood left in her body. The doctors had to give her at least eight bottles of blood before performing the surgery. Where did all her blood go?”
“There is just a 5% chance that Priyangi will stand on her feet again. My daughter’s life has been ruined by Amey and his mother. The police have failed to arrest Radhika whose anticipatory bail was rejected by the sessions court,” he said.
Patil said based on the evidence they had against Amey, the police would file a charge-sheet.
On November 13, Radhika booked a cab and dropped Priyangi at her house in Dindoshi in an unconscious state with her clothes wet. Radhika told their domestic help that she had tried to die by suicide. When her parents returned after the morning walk, Priyangi was taken to the hospital.
Her father then approached the Dindoshi police and a case of attempt to murder was registered against Amey. The case was later transferred to the Dahisar police and Amey was arrested on November 14. He is in judicial custody and lodged in Thane central jail.
Radhika got interim protection from arrest after she moved the Bombay high court seeking anticipatory bail.
