Mumbai The state recorded 207 fresh Covid infections with four deaths, while the capital city reported 50 cases and zero deaths on Tuesday.

A total of 12,273 tests were conducted in Mumbai in 24 hours between Monday and Tuesday, bringing the positivity rate for Tuesday to 0.4% (Vijay Bate)

For Maharashtra, the positivity rate is now 0.37 per cent as 207 cases were found out of the total 54,603 tests conducted.

Of the 50 cases reported in Mumbai, 46 or 92% are asymptomatic. Four needed hospitalisations, of which three needed oxygen beds. Of the total 28,468 Covid beds, only 0.4% are occupied. In the city, there are 324 active cases.

A total of 12,273 tests were conducted in Mumbai in 24 hours between Monday and Tuesday, bringing the positivity rate for Tuesday to 0.4%. Mumbai’s recovery rate is 98%, and overall growth rate of Covid cases in the city is 0.005%.

Dr Ishwar Gilada. secretary-general, Organised Medicine Academic Guild, said that it was time to speed up the pace of vaccination. “Vaccination is a preventive tool in our hands and we need to use it to protect us from any future variant,” said Gilada. He said that wearing masks needs to be strictly enforced to prevent new cases.

Currently, the state has 2,295 active cases, of which Pune tops with 1,048, followed by Mumbai and Thane with 324 and 207 respectively.

The death toll has now reached 1,43,757 with Pune leading with 20,162 deaths, followed by Mumbai with 16,692 and Thane with 11,868.
