Shantinagar police in Bhiwandi arrested a businessman after he inflicted cigarette burns on his five-year-old and threatened him not to meet his mother
The Shantinagar police arrested a businessman after he inflicted cigarette burns on his five-year-old and threatened him not to meet his mother. The couple were estranged and used to divide the time when their son would stay with either parent.

The incident occurred when the boy was with his father and the mother noticed them while bathing the boy.
The man, Fahim Khan, 33, and his estranged wife, Sannanu Shaikh, 33, have been in marital dispute for a long time. For one year, they have been fighting for divorce and the custody of their only son. Last year in December, the mother registered a kidnapping case against her husband for forcefully taking away the child.
An officer from Shantinagar police station said, the boy was with his father for the last 10 days. The mother paid a surprise visit and asked to take him with her for two days. While she was bathing him, she saw several burn marks on the child’s leg and hands. She immediately took him to a hospital. The doctor told them that these were cigarette burns. The boy was told to repeat that he will not go with his mother and was punished for refusing to agree.”
Sheetal Raut, senior police inspector of Shantinagar police station, said, “We immediately arrested the accused under Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and IPC Section 324. The boy is fine but treatment is going on for burn injuries.”
