Man kills girlfriend’s dad for refusing to accept marriage proposal

The accused took him out for a party at a remote location and used the opportunity to slit his throat. He later called his girlfriend and told her that her father will never come back home

Thane A 26-year-old man was arrested on March 13 for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s father for not approving their marriage.

The accused was identified as Pappukumar Shah, a resident of Bihar, who has been residing in Ulhasnagar for the last five years and did small jobs. The deceased Kamaljit Sande, 52, knew Shah as they were neighbours (HT File)

The accused took him out for a party at a remote location and used the opportunity to slit his throat. He later called his girlfriend and told her that her father will never come back home.

The accused was identified as Pappukumar Shah, a resident of Bihar, who has been residing in Ulhasnagar for the last five years and did small jobs. The deceased Kamaljit Sande, 52, knew Shah as they were neighbours.

The accused was in a relationship with Sande’s daughter. He wanted to marry her and hence, expressed his wishes to her father, who completely refused. Shah later apologised to her father and assured to respect his wish.

An officer from Bhiwandi Taluka police said, “The accused became friendly with Sande and on March 4, invited him for a party. After they both were drunk, the accused allegedly took him near a compound of a godown at a remote area in Bhiwandi rural and slit his throat. Meanwhile, Sande’s family were waiting for him to return. His daughter asked the accused to tell the truth, when he said that he would never come back. At the same time, Bhiwandi Rural police also recovered the body of the deceased.”

On March 13, the team of Bhiwandi Rural police found Shah at his village and arrested him. He was produced in the court and remanded to custody till March 19.
