Unknown person smashes street guitar player’s head by paver block

Police reached the spot and took the victim to the Cooper Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead

Mumbai: A 25-year-old man from Versova was killed by unknown person on Sunday night. According to police, the accused smashed the victim’s head with a paver block.

The police registered a case of murder against an unknown person and began investigation by scanning the footages of the CCTV cameras installed in the area. (HT)

The police on Sunday received a call from the control room about a man lying injured at the Seven Bungalows bus depot in Versova.

Police reached the spot and took the victim to the Cooper Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased person was identified as Suraj Manoj Tiwari, who used to play guitar on the street, to make a living. He was originally from Palam area in Delhi.

Initially, the police had registered an accidental death report (ADR) in the case. But the post mortem report revealed that he was hit on the head with a blunt object. From the spot panchnama, police discovered that a paver block was used to smash his head.

Thereafter, the police registered a case of murder against an unknown person and began investigation by scanning the footages of the CCTV cameras installed in the area.

“We have formed four teams to trace the killer and investigate the case from all possible angles,” said Siraj Inamdar, senior inspector of Versova police station, who refused to share any further details about the probe.
