The incident took place near LG Chowk when the child was playing along the roadside, police said. The deceased was identified as Anshika, a resident of Surajpur.

“We received a call around 7:30am about the incident. A police team rushed to the spot and took the minor to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead,” Awdhesh Kumar, station house officer of Surajpur police station, said, adding that the girl lived with her family in a slum area in Surajpur.

“She was playing along the roadside and came under the back wheel of the truck. Following the incident, the driver of the truck was nabbed by the public and handed over to the police,” the SHO said.

The suspect has been identified as Arvinder Singh, a native of Gonda in Aligarh district.

Two arrested for kidnapping girl

In a separate incident, police on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly kidnapping a seven-year-old girl from Chijjarsi village under the Sector 63 police station limits. The incident took place on Monday evening after which police registered an FIR on the basis of a complaint by the girl’s father.

The suspects were identified as Sonu Valmiki and his partner Neetu, both residents of Chijjarsi.

“Sonu was captured in a CCTV camera of a shop in the village where he could be seen carrying the child in his arms. On Tuesday, police, with the help of SWAT team, nabbed the suspect and his accomplice from his sister’s home in Baghpat district,” said Harish Chander, deputy commissioner of police (central Noida).

On interrogation, Sonu revealed that he had consulted a tantric as he was unable to get married, police said, adding that the tantric told him to sacrifice a young girl during Holi festival to please the God. The suspects have been booked under Section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC.
