Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated at AU

With the sun set, the Vizianagaram Hall portico and its walls glowed with hundreds of candles inspiring the youth with the valour of the martyrs.

Kargil Vijay Vijay Diwas was celebrated at the Allahabad University (AU) on Tuesday. To mark the day, an event was held in the premises of the historic Vizianagaram Hall in the Science Faculty of AU.

AU vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava led the teachers, the non-teaching staff and the students to pay homage to the Kargil martyrs who laid down their lives to protect the country. Floral tributes were paid by the VC and other senior officials including the deans and heads of the departments.

Candles were lit in memory of the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation during the Kargil war. With the sun set, the Vizianagaram Hall portico and its walls glowed with hundreds of candles inspiring the youth with the valour of the martyrs.

The NCC cadets of the university led by the NCC officers saluted the martyrs. The vice-chancellor said on the occasion that the events like the reception of the Vijay Mashal last year and the Kargil Vijay Diwas should inspire the students to join the Indian armed forces and contribute to nation building.
