Police booked 26 people for allegedly consuming liquor at a public place after a video of the incident surfaced on Instagram and went viral, police said on Wednesday.
According to the police, they noticed the video while monitoring social media platforms. It showed a group of people allegedly consuming liquor at a public place within the jurisdiction of the Mundhwa police station.
Police teams searched possible locations and eventually identified the public place where the alleged incident occurred. During the inquiry, the police identified 26 people allegedly involved in consuming liquor at the location.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 85(1) of the Maharashtra Police Act.
