“We have come a long way and have expertise, technologies to work on heritage computing projects. Recently, we associated with the national tech dome project at Delhi. At this dome, various government agencies will be displaying their achievements with the immersive technologies. Hence, C-DAC along with the National Council of Science Museum will have a big role to play. We are involved in content curation and creations as well as deciding upon the technology to be used at the dome. The background work has already begun,” said Col A K Nath (Retd), executive director of C-DAC in Pune.
In a bid to give a virtual tour of various museums and ancient objects, the C-DAC Pune team under ‘heritage computing’ last year had developed a unique mobile application ‘Museums of India’ through which anyone can access to the museum collections on their fingertips. This application provides a digital showcase of 750 artefacts from national museums.
