Recently, in July 2021, the state government rolled out a comprehensive EV policy in a bid to accelerate the adoption of EVs.

Aaditya Thackeray, Minister for Environment and Tourism said, “We need to act now to preserve our environment. New mobility is a very important component of it. We are presenting India’s largest Alternate Fuel (Electrical, Hydrogen and Biofuels) based vehicle exhibition, rally and conference starting this Gudhi Padwa, i.e., April 2. We want India to lead the transition to sustainable mobility and we would take all possible steps for Maharashtra to lead from the front and contribute significantly to this journey. Pune, a national auto-sector hub is ideal to host this conclave.”

The aim of the conclave is to attract potential investors in alternate fuels technology by positioning Maharashtra as a leader in the domain and to provide a platform for dialogue between key stakeholders on clean mobility.

Dr P Anbalagan, CEO, MIDC said, “Maharashtra holds a pioneer position in the Indian Auto Industry. Multiple auto giants in Maharashtra are investing in EVs. Key EV manufacturers have recently signed MoUs with Maharashtra and are setting up new factories as we speak. MIDC assures continued support towards the transition of the auto industry into new mobility ventures comprising Electrical, Hydrogen Fuel and Bio Fuel-Based Vehicles.”
