Pune man robbed at gunpoint, two arrested

One of the suspects placed a pistol on his head and took his mobile phone worth ₹7,000 and ₹40 from the pocket and fled

Two persons on the pretext of asking for tobacco robbed a man at gunpoint in Kurli in Mahalunge Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area on May 8. The Mahalunge MIDC police have arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

The accused have been identified as Adesh Madan Kad (23) and Vishal Prakash Vani (23) of Kadachiwadi village. Satyam Kad of Kadachiwadi village and a minor have also been apprehended.

According to the police, the victim, 28-year-old Jairam Bhaura Munda of Kuruli, was walking on the road when the two suspects came on a two-wheeler and pretended to ask for tobacco. When the victim was handing over the tobacco, the suspects grabbed his hands and forcibly tried to take money from his pocket.

When the victim resisted, one of the suspects placed a pistol on his head and took his mobile phone worth ₹7,000 and ₹40 from the pocket and fled.

The victim lodged a complaint at the Mhalunge MIDC police station on May 10 and two suspects were arrested. A case has been registered under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Arms Act.
