Mahesh Palkar, director secondary and higher secondary education, issued the directive following instructions received from the office of the deputy secretary and joint chief electoral officer, Maharashtra, in a letter dated July 3.
Under the SIR programme, teachers, along with state government employees, local authority staff and contractual employees, have been appointed as BLOs.
To enable teachers to discharge both their academic responsibilities and election-related duties effectively, schools have been instructed to minimise the teaching load of teachers appointed as BLOs. The circular states that teachers who have not been appointed as BLOs should extend academic and administrative support to those serving in the role whenever required.
