PMC inspects electric poles, urges Ganesh mandals to get legal connection

The civic administration has appealed to mandals to take temporary connection from the electricity board

Against the background of the 10-day Ganeshotsav, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is carrying out safety audit of electric poles. The civic administration has appealed to mandals to not tap connection illegally but take temporary connection from the electricity board.

Shrinivas Kandul, head, PMC electricity department, “During the festival celebrations from August 31 to September 9, Ganesh mandals should avoid setting up pandals near electric poles and streetlights.”

A civic official said, “The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is giving temporary power connection for Ganeshotsav at a nominal price.”

The civic body has appealed to residents to report to PMC on tollfree 18001030222 about unsafe electric poles.
