Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs Siddharth Shirole, Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir and Rahul Kul raised the issue of traffic congestion, stating that bottle necks are a common occurrence due to monsoon and various developmental works. The elected members questioned the coordination among various industries, and demanded that a nodal agency be appointed to streamline the traffic issue, while carrying out the developmental works.

Kesarkar said, “We plan to complete work of Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro in 4 months. The work of Chandni chowk flyover will also be completed soon. However, in order to better the traffic management, the state government will take the lead and call for a meeting with the concerned departments.”

MLA Shirole said, “The university chowk flyover was demolished two years ago, yet the authorities are unable to begin work on the new flyover. Once the work begins, there would be more traffic snarls as this chowk connects various other localities.

Municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “The work of flyover at University chowk scheduled to start soon. The meeting for same is called next week. After the meeting, the exact date for starting the flyover work will get fixed. Traffic police will ensure to chalk out detailed traffic plan.”
