PUNE A woman was booked for forging educational documents to secure a job with the Maharashtra police in place of her husband, who succumbed to cancer.

The woman tried to make her way into a job at the Criminal investigation department (CID).

Her husband was a police sub-inspector in the fingerprint department of CID till 2019 when he died of cancer.

A complaint in the matter was lodged by RS Waghmare, a senior clerk who works in the Pune-based office of CID.

The woman submitted an application seeking a job in place of her husband after his death. For the application, the woman submitted educational qualification-related documents including a certificate and mark list for the third year of Bachelor in Arts degree. Both the documents were found to be forged, according to the police.

A case under Sections 420 (cheating), 465, 468 (forgery), and 471 (using forged document as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Chaturshringi police station.
