4:35 AM IST Drinks Break! The first hour has flown by and it belongs to the hosts. Taskin and Hasan Mahmud were just as accurate with their lines and lengths and had the West Indies top order dance to their tunes. With King, Hodge and Da Silva all dismissed through some exceptional new-ball bowling, the hosts reduced them to 27/3. However, with the ball losing its shine, Wickham and Jangoo have batted with a positive mindset, and will look to stay unbeaten till lunch. It's time for spin now as Mehidy Hasan Miraz is brought into the attack. He replaces Hasan Mahmud.

3:31 AM IST All in readiness now! We can see the Bangladesh players in a huddle before they head out to the middle and take their assigned field spots. Brandon King and Joshua Da Silva are the two openers for West Indies. It is slightly overcast, and Taskin Ahmed has the new red cherry in his hand. Let's play...
3:28 AM IST The skipper of Bangladesh - Najmul Hossain Shanto says there has not been much discussion after the first Test defeat. He admits that the previous game was a bad one for Bangladesh, so the team has focused on this match and prepared properly. He adds that the boys are confident enough to perform well. On the toss, Shanto says Bangladesh would have batted first as well. He notes that the wicket looks pretty good, but considering the conditions, he believes the bowlers will get some assistance. About the team and combinations, he shares that there are two changes to their playing XI. Informs that Mominul Haque is unavailable, so Mushfiqur Rahim comes back into the side. Adds that Shoriful Islam is also out, with Taskin Ahmed coming in for him. On Bangladesh's plans with the new ball, Shanto says the new ball is always challenging, especially in these conditions. He really hopes Bangladesh can pick up some early wickets.
3:35 AM IST The captain of West Indies - Roston Chase says that the wicket looks dry and they don't really want to bat fourth on a dry wicket. Adds that they came here to win two games, and winning the first game was the first step, and they want to take confidence from that. Chase mentions that the batting has stood out for them, as in the years before, they were not really putting up big totals, but the batters have stepped up this year, which has made a difference in them winning games and being more consistent. Chase states that the spinners have done a good job, with Jomel Warrican leading the pack, and hopes that they can continue to do the same things again. Informs that they have been forced to make a couple of changes, with John Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul falling ill. Joshua Da Silva comes in, and Kevin Wickham makes his debut.
3:29 AM IST PITCH REPORT - Ian Bishop says it is very cloudy to start the morning, with plenty of grey clouds around, but hopes the rain stays away. He notes that the outfield is very green and lush as the players prepare behind him, and says it looks quite beautiful. He adds that the sun may come out a little later. Bishop observes that the surface at ground zero has been mowed very low, with just a couple of millimetres of grass left on it. He mentions that it was higher a couple of days ago. He describes the surface as very hard and says it should allow for some bounce and even bounce. He hopes the green shoots will keep the surface together and says there should be a little lateral movement with the new ball because of the overhead conditions and the grass roots in the pitch. Bishop points out that there are a few cracks on the surface, but says they are unlikely to come into play for a period of time today. He says they will keep an eye on them as the match progresses to see whether they open up. He concludes that it generally looks like a good pitch, with something in it for the bowlers, and says he thinks the bounce can be trusted on this surface.
3:14 AM IST Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das (WK), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud. IN - Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed. OUT - Mominul Haque and Shoriful Islam.
3:17 AM IST West Indies (Playing XI) - Brandon King, Joshua Da Silva, Kevin Wickham (On Test debut), Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo (WK), Justin Greaves, Roston Chase (C), Shamar Joseph, Joshua Bishop, Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican. IN - Joshua Da Silva and Kevin Wickham. OUT - John Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul.
3:06 AM IST TOSS - It's time for the coin to go up in Sylhet, and it lands in favor of Roston Chase. West Indies have elected to BAT first.
2:44 AM IST Conditions and combinations - Dhaka favoured the spinners, but Sylhet could hand the initiative to the fast bowlers, with its surface expected to offer more pace and bounce. That may encourage both teams to consider an extra seamer at the expense of a spinner. Bangladesh have a decision to make. Taijul Islam’s recent dip in form could see him make way for Taskin Ahmed, who sat out the first Test, while Mushfiqur Rahim’s likely return would reinforce their batting. West Indies have little reason to change a winning XI, but if conditions demand another quick, Shamar Springer and Kemar Roach are available as options.
2:59 AM IST Seeking answers - Sylhet is a venue Bangladesh will be happy to return to, despite having plenty to prove. They have won their last two Tests here, but after their spinners were outsmarted in Dhaka - having picked just 8 wickets out of 24 by spinners across both teams - questions arose over whether they paid the price for preparing a spin-friendly pitch. Bangladesh have not lost a home Test series since 2024, having whitewashed both Ireland and Pakistan before this, and they will be eager to avoid a rare home-series defeat. Yet the real challenge lies within. Their batters must convert starts into substance and resist the temptation to let hard-earned advantages slip away, as they did in Dhaka.
2:37 AM IST Chasing a perfect finish - It has been quite an encouraging year for Roston Chase and his men in whites. They have played two Test series before this, both at home. With just a solitary defeat between them and no series loss so far, they would love to sign off the same way, with the record unblemished and a whitewash on foreign soil to cap their Test assignments for 2026 as well as the current WTC cycle. The opening Test showed how far this group has come. The batters backed up the metronomic work done by the bowling group, and the whole side played with real pride. They will be aiming to unleash the same blueprint here as well.
2:33 AM IST Equaliser or whitewash? From Dhaka, the two-match series rolls into Sylhet for its final act, with both sides arriving on a single mission - to win. Bangladesh are licking their wounds after a shambolic first Test, desperate to square the ledger and start afresh. For West Indies, the equation is cleaner and far sweeter. Win here, and they leave with a 2-0 sweep, something they haven’t managed on Bangladeshi soil since 2012. However, they hold a pretty strong record in this part of the world, winning eight out of eleven Tests. But this is their first-ever Test at this venue, so it will be quite a different challenge. On that note, hello and welcome to our coverage of this second and final Test of the series.
2:30 AM IST ... MATCH DAY ...
4:47 PM IST One Test, plenty at stake - The focus now shifts to the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium for the second and final Test between Bangladesh and West Indies, with the visitors holding a 1-0 lead after their eight-wicket win in Mirpur. Bangladesh had taken a 27-run first-innings lead in the opener but were bowled out for just 142 in their second innings, allowing West Indies to chase 170 with plenty to spare. The hosts now need a much more complete performance to level the series and avoid another home defeat. Bangladesh need their batting to step up - The biggest concern for Bangladesh will be their second-innings collapse. Shadman Islam's century was a major positive in the first Test, while Nayeem Hasan also showed his value with the ball and bat, but the middle and lower order could not build enough partnerships when it mattered. They will also have to adjust to life without Mominul Haque, who is unavailable after suffering a concussion in the opener. However, Mushfiqur Rahim should be back which is a positive for them. Amite Hasan has also been brought into the squad after an unbeaten 201 in the National Cricket League, giving Bangladesh another option as they look to strengthen their batting. Spinners face another big test - The bowling attack will again rely heavily on their spinners, particularly Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, the first Test showed that they were outdone in that department by the West Indies, with Jomel Warrican taking nine wickets and Roston Chase adding five in the second innings. Bangladesh will need their spinners to exert greater control while also finding a way to contain a West Indies batting line-up that proved capable of handling the conditions. Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam will aslo have to be more consistent with the new ball and later when it starts to reverse swing. West Indies have plenty to build on - West Indies could hardly have asked for a better start to the series. Warrican was the standout with the ball, while Chase's five-wicket haul in the second innings completed a strong showing from the spin department. With the bat, Brandon King produced his best Test score of 81 not out and John Campbell made 49 as they put together a century opening stand to take the chase away from Bangladesh. In Tagenarine Chanderpaul, they have one solid batter who can spend long hours out in the middle and frustrate the hosts. They will now look to maintain that discipline and finish the tour with another strong performance. The visitors also have the advantage of knowing that they do not necessarily need to force the game. A draw would be enough to secure the series, but their first-Test performance will give them confidence that they can challenge Bangladesh again in Sylhet. With Roston Chase leading a side that has already found the right combination of spin, patience and attacking batting, they will look to put the pressure back on the hosts from the outset. WTC equation - There is plenty at stake in the WTC standings as well, with Bangladesh looking to bounce back and strengthen their position, after slipping to 5th, while West Indies will be keen to move up after their opening-Test victory. The visitors will also take confidence from their previous tour in 2021, when they completed a 2-0 series sweep. Bangladesh, meanwhile, have struggled to build on their historic first-ever Test win over Australia, failing to win their next three Tests, including one drawing against Afghanistan. Team form (Last 5 Tests, most recent first) - BAN - LDLWL | WI - WLWDW. Sylhet brings a fresh challenge - The surface could make for an interesting contest. The pitch was looking noticeably grassy during Bangladesh's preparations, although Amite Hasan stressed that its final character would depend on how it is prepared over the next couple of days. That could mean the conditions offer something different from the spin-friendly surface in Mirpur, potentially bringing the seamers into the game earlier before the spinners become increasingly important. With the series on the line for Bangladesh and West Indies looking to complete a clean sweep, this Test promises another intriguing battle. The hosts need their batting to hold together for longer and deliver a much-improved performance, while the visitors will be confident in their all-round bowling attack and improving batting unit as they look to seal a 2-0 series victory.
