India vs England 2nd ODI Highlights: Topley's 6-wicket-haul helps ENG win by 100 runs

Not much celebrations from the all-rounder, he knows this is a soft dismissal. Roy survived all those scorchers from Shami and Bumrah and he gets out to a half volley from Pandya. Full on middle and leg, Roy goes for the flick but cannot get enough power on it, he holes out at deep-backward square leg.

Hardik Pandya replaces Mohammed Shami and the second ball is banged in at 139kph. Bairstow misses the pull and gets hit on the ribs. Pandya just walked back after taking a look but then puts a hand on Bairstow's shoulder after the batters take a single off the next ball. 

Roy and Bairstow are two of the luckiest individuals at Lord's for the moment. Roy absolutely smashes the back to the bowler and Bumrah cannot hold on to it. It was absolutely drilled to him though and so that was a difficult one to hold on to. 

Wow, Rohit had just taken himself off second slip and Bairstow nicks the very next ball to that area. Dhawan at first slip put in the dive and the ball was just out of his reach. Rohit promptly goes back to second slip after that. 

Roy was beaten all ends up off the very next delivery after that lucky boundary. How does he respond? By skipping down the track and walloping Shami over deep midwicket for six, that's how. Looks like it's coming together rather well for England. 

In the last game, Roy had to walk off after the ball smashed into the stumps after hitting his inside edge. That was off Bumrah, this one is off Shami and it misses the stumps and the keeper to run off to the boundary. 

It wasn't exactly a cakewalk for Roy after that four. Roy was beaten off a length ball the very next delivery and then gets beaten twice off the last two balls. England 9/0 after 3 overs and their openers are living dangerously. 

Length ball angling towards off and just flicks it in front of square. He has had some troubles in recent months and was lucky to not play on off Bumrah in the previous over and so this should make him feel good. 

Bairstow was beaten twice off the last two balls of that over and so there is some movement off the pitch. Jasprit Bumrah in at first change.

“We would have bowled first as well. A 50-50 decision to be honest. Seems like a bit of moisture and might be tricky early on, if we can survive that, we should be fine. We're going with the same team. I think we've got to move on and just think it (the loss) as one of those off-days. We always think that batting is our main strength and one game isn't going to change it. Special time it was (World Cup win), anytime you're playing at Lord's, it's a great feeling.”

“We're going to bowl first. Less grass for sure but looks like there is some moisture in the pitch. Looking at the size of the ground, we thought it's better to have a score on the board. Virat Kohli comes back in for Shreyas Iyer. He's (Bumrah) a proper bowler, no matter which the format is. GIves us a different dimension and can bowl in any phases of the game. Always nice to have a bowler like him in the squad. I thought it was quite challenging (to keep wickets), as in England, ball tends to move even after passing the stumps. He (Pant) did take some really good catches. They were very important for us. It (Lord's) is one of the best stadiums in the world, so the guys are keen to play well here. Sun is out, so perfect conditions.”

No green can be seen today so it should be a good batting pitch. It's quite sunny out there, not a hint of a cloud so the conditions are entirely different to what the two teams encountered in the first ODI. 

Rohit Sharma let the ball fly towards his leg side, mostly towards fine leg, whenever the ball was short during the first ODI. 

The first ODI was supposed to be a happy reunion of the batting order that won England the World Cup in 2019. Roy, Root, Stokes, Bairstow and Buttler had not played together in an ODI since that final against New Zealand and all of them are big names indeed. But they were not big enough for the conditions or a fire-breathing Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. While Bumrah may have taken the six wickets, one has to remember Shami's spell as well, which was just as devastating and probably soften the batters up a little for Bumrah to pluck later on. 

Well, well, well, what do we have here. The BCCI has just uploaded two photos of Virat Kohli in the nets with the caption, ‘Virat Kohli warming up in the nets ahead of the 2nd ODI against England.’ Are we going to see that familiar name at No.3

India have lost the three ODI series they have played outside Asia since 2020 - New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. 

Deepak Hooda has been in sensational form but has found it difficult to cement his spot in the playing XI. And now Virat Kohli gone, he can take the number three spot as he did in the IPL. He also has the experience of opening the bat. 

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer was preferred over him in the first ODI. But with England well aware about Iyer's weakness on short deliveries, will India be willing to take the risk?

When Jasprit Bumrah was asked about the status of Kohli's injury, the pacer said he has no idea about it.

"I wasn't playing in the last T20 game and he (Kohli) didn't play today (Tuesday). I don't have an update on his injury," said Bumrah during the post-match presser.

Since Virat Kohli endured a groin strain, will it be wise to rush the former India captain into the middle? Lets take a look:

As per a report in PTI, the groin strain can easily aggravate into a proper tear if the player rushes himself into the thick of things.

We all know Kohli is famous for rotating the strike and sneaking quick single or converting one into double. So a quick single or a swift turnaround during a double can unknowingly worsen a player's condition if he takes field without being hundred percent fit.

However, at times, these injuries sometime can come as a blessing in disguise for the management in order to avoid a tough call and Kohli's groin strain could just be that.

Jasprit Bumrah ran through the England top-order in the previous encounter and returned with his best ODI figures.  After his impressive effort he is the number one ranked bowler in the ODI rankings.

It will be interesting to see if Virat Kohli returns to the playing XI. The batter, who has been under the radar due to his form, was sidelined from the 1st ODI due to a groin strain, as informed by the BCCI shortly after the line-up was announced.
