India vs England 1st ODI Highlights: India beat England by 66 runs, take 1-0 lead

OUT! A poor shot from Rohit. After doing all the hard wok, battling through an elbow injury, Rohit nicks a wide one from Stokes to the England keeper Buttler. Ben Stokes gets the first breakthrough for England. Rohit has to go for 28. India 64/1

FOUR! Cracking shot from Rohit Sharma. He charges down the track and hits the length ball from Curran over the in-field and into the fence. Rohit can surprise the bowler with a shot like this out of the blue.

Play resumes after the drinks break and Tom Curran starts his third over. He has carried on with the good work of Sam Curran and Mark Wood. He trouble Rohit in his previous over.

FOUR! Not the best of deliveries from Ben Stokes. It was short and at the perfect height for Dhawan to bring out his pull shot. Credit to the India opener to hit it fine from the fielder at the fine-leg boundary to collect a four.

A nice flick towards the on-side to take a single from Rohit Sharma. This brings up India's fifty. This has been a very good start after losing the toss.

Tom Curran replaces Mark Wood in the attack and bowls a good first over. Also got one to come back in sharply at Rohit Sharma, which cut the India opener in half. Only two runs from the over, India 42/0 after 11 overs.

Despite the good work by England new-ball bowlers, India haven't lost a wicket so one would have to conclude that they are off to a good start after being sent in. At the end of the powerplay, India are 39/0.

FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries now from Rohit's bat. A superb on-drive all along the ground that races away to the fence. India are slowly but surely getting on the right track. India 34/0 after 9 overs.

FOUR! This was a shot out of frustration. There was a lot of anger when Rohit decided to lost Wood over the in-field for a boundary.

"They have saved at least 12-15 runs in the 10-12 deliveries" says L Shivaramakrishnan in the commentary after Tom Curran dives to stop a boundary. The England inner-ring fielders have been brilliant.

Sam Curran has been brilliant with the new ball so far, another tight over from him. Only two singles from it. The good things from India's point of view is that they haven't lost a wicket. They can surely make up for the slow start later on.

That shouldn't really go down as a drop catch. It was firmly hit by Dhawan, Jason Roy at point flew to his left, got both hands to it, but the force of the ball didn't allow him to hold on. He saved four runs nonetheless.

Rohit Sharma is a not a 100% ever since he was hit on the elbow by a Wood delivery. Now his getting a strapping done on his right elbow. For now, he has decided to carry on batting.

Back to back boundaries from Shikhar Dhawan's bat. One off the back foot and one off the front but both through the off-side. This couple of boundaries against Mark Wood will give a lot of confidence to Dhawan.

FOUR! Something had to come and it came from Rohit's bat. A scoop over fine leg to collect his first boundary of the day and more importantly it gives India breathing space after a really quiet start to the innings. India 15/0 after 6 overs.

Nothing from the umpire, nothing from Eoin Morgan. But another good delivery from Sam Curran. It cam back in to the left hander, hit him high on the pads, perhaps that is why England didn't go for the review. Curran has settled into a nice rhythm.

Ouch! That must have stung. It was a 148 kmph delivery from Mark Wood and it hit Rohit right on his unprotected right elbow. There was immediate grimace on his face. We have the physio out in the middle.

Nice lengths, nice lines and a hint of away movement in most of the deliveries - Sam Curran bowls a maiden. Credit to Dhawan too for not flirting with danger. India 10/0 after 4 overs.

Well, this is new. The ball in Wood's hands was only 10 balls old but it has already got a hole in it so the umpires have decided to hand over a new ball to England.

FOUR! Short and wide outside off stump from Wood, this is bread and butter for Dhawan, he can hit them for four in his sleep. Punches it away through the gap between point and covers and it races away for the first boundary of the Indian innings. India 9/0 after 3.4 overs.

A gentle loosener from Curran outside off stump, just the kind of ball a batsman dreams of at the start of his innings, Dhawan taps it to third man for a single and open his account.

Wow what a good first delivery from Sam Curran. He just got that one to come back in at Rohit and he missed it. It hit him on the front pad, there was a huge appeal, the umpire shook his head and Eoin Morgan decided against taking a review.

That's a very good first over from Mark Wood. Hard lengths at good pace, just what you expect from him. Only 1 run off it. India 1/0 after being sent in by England.

Just a nice tap on the on-side from Rohit Sharma. Shikhar Dhawan was aware to steal a quick single. First runs for India in the first ODI.
