It was the worst possible start to the season for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they slumped to a seven-wicket loss against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday.

The star-studded batting line-up of RCB failed to perform as Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir clinched the encounter for the hosts.

In the process, RCB became the first team in IPL history to be dismissed for less than 100 twice in opening matches of the tournament. Back in 2008, they scored just 82 runs in the opener against Kolkata Knight Riders.

This was also the third time that they were dismissed for a score below 100. Besides the two previous instances, RCB were also bowled out for 70 against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi in 2014.

It was the second lowest total ever for RCB with the lowest being 49 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014.

The spinning trio of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, and Ravindra Jadeja helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) record an easy win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

On a turning track, the spinners helped CSK bundle out RCB for just 70 runs.

CSK were able to chase the target quite easily, winning the match by eight wickets with 2.2 overs to spare.
