Yadav shot into the national limelight with 65 wickets during the 2015/16 Ranji Trophy. Before the start of the series against New Zealand, Yadav put in some good performances with India A against Australia A with seven wickets in two games.
In his ODI debut, he picked up a wicket in his second over as he trapped Corey Anderson LBW for 0 as New Zealand folded up for 79, their lowest total against India in ODIs.
