CSK skipper MS Dhoni completed the dismissal of RR's Dhruv Jurel with a stunning direct hit in the final over of the recently concluded IPL 2023 match.

All it took was a moment of brilliance from MS Dhoni to run-out a free-scoring Dhruv Jurel, who played an absolute blinder of a knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) when the four-time champions squared off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Batting first in their crucial home game, Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) posted a mammoth total for Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded encounter of the IPL 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Providing the finishing touches in the final over of the RR innings, power-hitter Jurel sacrificed his wicket after middle-order Devdutt Padikkal failed to connect a low full-toss from pacer Matheesha Pathirana. Anticipating a run-out following the wide delivery, the CSK skipper came up with a direct hit to complete the dismissal of the RR batter on the third ball of the final over. Soon after Dhoni removed the in-form batter, chants of Dhoni-Dhoni started to echo at the packed stadium in Jaipur.

Batting at a strike rate of 226.67, young Jurel smashed 34 off 15 balls while Padikkal remained unbeaten on 27 off 13 balls. Earlier, RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler (27) laid the foundation for a gigantic total against Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. RR opener Jaiswal played a match-winning knock of 77 off 43 balls. Riding on Jaiswal's brilliant knock, Samson's RR managed to set a staggering 203-run target for Chennai.

Chasing the massive target, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 47 off 29 balls while Shivam Dube notched up a brilliant half-century to lead CSK's fightback in the high-scoring thriller. However, Dube's fighting knock went in vain as Dhoni's CSK posted 170-6 in 20 overs. With the comfortable 32-run win over Dhoni's CSK, former champions RR have climbed to the top spot on the IPL 2023 points table.

RR opener Jaiswal took home the Player of the Match award after playing a memorable knock against Dhoni's CSK at Jaipur. Champions in the 2008 editions of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals have picked up 10 points from 8 matches this season. Samson’s RR are followed by Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 standings. Rajasthan Royals will next play five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 42nd match of the IPL 2023 at Wankhede Stadium.
