The ongoing 11th season of the Pakistan Super League witnessed a stunning chase on Wednesday as Multan Sultans pulled off a spectacular win against Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. At the heart of the show was Sahibzada Farhan, whose brilliant century powered Multan to chase down 226 with eight balls to spare—the fifth-highest successful chase in PSL history.

Who has the most T20 centuries in history

Put in to bat first in the eighth match of the season, Hyderabad got off to a blistering start, with openers Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat adding 59 runs in just 31 balls. Sadaqat led the charge with a fiery 62 off 26 deliveries, while a late flourish from Sharjeel Khan (51* off 26) propelled the new franchise to a formidable 225 for five.

Multan responded in equally aggressive fashion. Farhan and Steve Smith raced to 83 runs in the powerplay, setting the tone for the chase. Farhan brought up his half-century in just 25 balls before Smith departed for a brisk 46 off 20 in the ninth over, with Multan at 104 for one.

Despite a lack of sustained partnerships thereafter, Farhan held firm and anchored the chase almost single-handedly. He reached his second PSL century with a composed single before sealing the win in style with a six in the 19th over.

Farhan surpasses Rohit, equals Kohli

The knock marked Farhan’s ninth T20 century, taking him past Rohit Sharma (8) and Abhishek Sharma (8) in the all-time list. He now stands joint fourth alongside Virat Kohli and Rilee Rossouw. David Warner (10), Babar Azam (11) and Chris Gayle (22) remain ahead.

Farhan is also the second-fastest to reach nine T20 hundreds, achieving the milestone in 160 innings, behind only Gayle (127). No other batter has reached the mark in under 200 innings.

For Multan, it was their second consecutive win of the season, having earlier beaten Islamabad United by five wickets. They next face Lahore Qalandars on Friday in Lahore.
