Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was absolutely livid with teammate Mohammed Siraj after the star pacer dropped a tough catch of veteran batter David Warner in the action-packed 3rd One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series on Wednesday. After suffering a heavy at the hands of visitors Australia, Rohit Sharma's Team India squared off against Steve Smith and Co. in the series decider at the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium.

During the 20th over of the Australian innings, Warner came up with an ambitious sweep to attack Jadeja on the final delivery. With the ball taking a top edge towards the deep backward square, Siraj made a darting run to complete the catch. The Indian pacer dived full stretch to take an absolute blinder of a catch. However, the Indian pacer failed to pluck the ball which invited strong criticism from Jadeja.

Though Siraj made a decent attempt, Jadeja was seemingly not pleased with the effort of the fielder. Coming out the in the support of pacer Siraj, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar issued a noteworthy statement during the match commentary on Star Sports. "With Siraj what we have seen over the years, in the last 2-3 years - He still hasn't developed that instinct. So, it was a late start. This was a tough one, make no mistake. It wasn't an easy catch at all. But he started late and therefore he had to dive. No wonder! (Talking about Jadeja’s scream of anguish) But then, it can’t be your standards, Ravindra. Your standards are sky high," Gavaskar said on-air.

Warner, who ended up taking two runs on the final ball of Jadeja's over, only managed to score 23 off 31 balls in the 3rd ODI against India. The veteran batter was dismissed by spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the 25th over. Bowling heroics from Hardik Pandya and spinner Kuldeep staged India's fightback in the series decider as Australia lost half of its side for 138 in 29 overs. Aussie openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head gave the visitors a promising start before Pandya picked up three wickets to turn the tie into a low-scoring contest.

Hardik got the better of Head (33), Marsh (47) and Smith (0) in the series decider between India and Australia at Chennai. Cameos from middle-order batters Alex Carey (38) and Marcus Stoinis (25) helped Smith’s Australia in posting a modest total in the 50-over contest. Earlier, Australia handed India a 10-wicket defeat in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
